The summer is for relaxation, lots of sun and long awaited family vacations. We all love this time of year because it is a great time to renew our minds, reflect on the first half of the year, and in a lot of cases hit the reset button. While it’s important to grind it out and work hard during the year, it is equally important to take a break. One of the reasons this is necessary is because many times we can get caught up in the routine of what we’re doing and lose focus on why we’re doing it. Sometimes it is helpful to step away from your work and focus on your “why”. Why you started, why you want to help others, why God may have given you the vision for your ministry. And also, why did God chose you to carry out His mission?
In doing this, the hope is that the fire will get reignited in your ministry! Your passion for doing what God has put on your heart will reach new heights. The excitement of what made you start the first place is enough to give you a push when you are lost in the routine of things. So this summer, take some time out to sit back, open up the Word of God and meditate on your “why”.
It is easy to become discouraged, especially if you are working tirelessly on your ministry and feeling like you are not seeing the fruits of your labor. Galatians 6:9 tells us, “let us not be weary in well doing: for in due season we shall reap, if we faint not”. Taking a break and reflecting on what God has given you can be instrumental in the success of your ministry. Don’t be afraid to take a step back, and hit the reset button. This summer, take some time out to put some time in, and get back to your why!
